GBS is a NGS based method which helps in discovering and genotyping SNPs in crop genomes.
Markers assisted selection (MAS) uses molecular markers to assist in crop improvement and Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) are the main markers used in GBS.
ddRAD: One of the GBS methods is Double digest restriction-site associated sequencing (ddRAD-seq). ddRAD Seq uses the RAD sequencing approach for genotyping and SNP discovery without prior availability of any reference genome. It is a lexible and cost-effective strategy for providing in-depth insights into the genetic architecture of germplasm collections.
MicroArray: It is a probe based which helps in binding to the complementary DNA sequences in the sample. It can help to detect the expression of thousands of genes simultaneously, eg. Infinium by illumina.
GBS has been successfully used in implementing genome-wide association study (GWAS), genomic diversity study, genetic linkage analysis, molecular marker discovery and genomic selection under a large scale of plant breeding programs.
